Oakley Turns 1, A Love Letter
Today is the 1st birthday of my 3rd son. There is no greater transition in life than that of a squalling infant into a toddling 1 year old. The change is remarkable and rapid, a thing of wonder. This is my love letter to my sweetest angel boy:
Dearest Oakley,
Oh, how I adore you! I love you, my 3rd son, as if you were my only son. I always wanted you. This past year has been wonderful because of you and I am mindful of every moment we have together. I take my time when I am rocking you to sleep, smelling you, kissing your cheeks and head, feeling your fuzzy hair in the palm of my hand, and then I lay you down always reluctant. You are my charmer, my happy one. From the beginning, you were never fussy, and still remain my easy-going and gentle boy. Your eyes are wide with joy, ready to welcome anyone with your constant smile. You are not easily fooled, too smart for your own good. Watching you walk on your own reminds me that you are becoming your own little self, less and less dependent on Mommy. There is nothing better than seeing you notice I am in the room and watching you race as quickly as you can into my arms and then feeling you bury your head in my neck. I love watching you grow and become the wonderful boy you are. Your 2 older brothers can’t get enough of you either, and race to greet you when you wake from your naps. They take turns holding you, carrying you, and cuddling you. You are the apple of Daddy’s eye! A delight-that’s what you are to us! Oakley, my boy, my 1 year old boy, I am so deeply, deeply blessed to be your Mommy. My heart is full! We have a lot of happy times ahead of us, and today, we celebrate YOU! Happy 1st Birthday, my little cherub!
Love Always,
Mommy
